Screen Time
Both children and adults seem to be glued to electronics these days. We are surrounded by smartphones, tablets, television, and video gaming consoles. Results of a study from Preventive Medicine Reports are discussed in this article. “The study showed that more hours of daily screen time were associated with less curiosity, more difficulty with friendships, more distractibility, less emotional steadiness, and less ability to complete tasks.” This brief video from NBC gives an overview of what screen time does to a child’s brain while also noting that screen time can help prepare a child’s brain for our increasingly fast paced world. Consider replacing screen time with outdoor time, and perhaps even implementing a digital detox for your family.
