Cold and flu season is upon us. Dr. Elisa Song shares ways to boost your family’s immune system as well as remedies to take at the first sign of illness. Dr. Song is board-certified in pediatrics and holistic medicine, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has additional training in functional medicine/holistic nutrition, homeopathy & homeopathic detoxification, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and flower essences. For more detailed information, view Dr. Song’s Boost Your Child’s Immune System presentation. One of the remedies shared is elderberry syrup. Our very own community member, Candice, makes elderberry syrup at Very Berry Good. Here you can read two studies on the positive effects of elderberry:

Randomized study of the efficacy and safety of oral elderberry extract in the treatment of influenza A and B virus infections.

The effect of Sambucol, a black elderberry-based, natural product, on the production of human cytokines: I. Inflammatory cytokines.
